Over a conversation with Avismita, we got to know when and how her journey began and how it has all been like till here. The talented photographer spoke her mind, and here’s what she had to say.
Tell us about your journey, how did you become a wedding photographer?
I embarked on my photography journey back in the year 2012, when I got the first exposure to a DigiCam. I realized that it was something that I was enjoying and I was intrigued to learn more about the art. In the year of 2016, I joined National Academy of Photography and learned many things. One of my close friends, Jeet, helped me a lot. Later, I came in touch with Sutirtha Basu and he told me to cover a shoot for his group. And that’s how the whole new world of wedding photography unfolded before me.
Tell us about your experience with Camarena Academy?
It was a fantastic experience. I was confident about my work, but not sure whether I’ll make it or not.
About the award? And about the award winning image?
The award is very special to me because it came from my 2nd wedding assignment. And to be very honest, that was one of my favorite pictures.
The picture was taken during the Vidaai, which is a very emotional moment for every bride. I just wanted to capture her emotions.
How did you come to be part of Photographians?
It has been nearly a year that I am following the work of Photographians. And I love their work. I was looking forward to an opportunity to work with them and finally, things fell into place and I had an incredible experience being a part of the team which is exceptionally professional yet fulfilled and easy-going.
Do you think your experience as a female wedding photographer is different from your male counterparts?
Few families want a female photographer for some selective rituals and obviously, that is an advantage for a female photographer like me.
How has being part of the Photographians changed your outlook?
They work in a very organized way, which helps me a lot. And I’m in a learning process, so I get to brush my skills being with the team.
Who are your favorite photographers and why?
They are many actually – Raghu Rai, Rafique Sayed, Dabboo Ratnani, Kaustubh Kamble, Bikramjit Bose, Steve McCurry.
“Why” is probably a difficult question to be answered! Why not?? Their pictures are enough to narrate tales.
So far, what has been your experience of working with Photographians?
It was a fantastic experience. and I would love to work more with them.
